Alhama de Murcia
Located 30 km south of Murcia and by the foot of Sierra Espuña, you will find Alhama de Murcia. The name Alhama comes from the arabian “Al-hamma” and means thermal bath. Inside the city, where you will find plenty of historical areas, including these old natural thermal baths. Today there are no water left in these baths, but museums in the center of the city tells interesting stories about the old times.
Today around 20.000 inhabitants lives primarily of agriculture and industry.
During the new millenium an increasing number of Golf Resort has lead to more tourism in the area of Alhama de Murcia, and latest plans reveals an amazing possibility for Alhama de Murcia. Paramount Pictures is planning to construct the second largest amusement and themepark in Europe just a few kilometers out of Alhama de Murcia. Constructing and running this amusement will require personel of 20.000 employees and there will be a demand for further 5.000 hotelrooms in the area.
